Bluebells and More

 

It was a beautiful morning

and we took some time to stroll around my daughter’s garden.

This is her first year with her own garden 

and it was nice to see what she has started

and hear her future garden plans.

Then it was off to Cracker Barrel for some brunch and shopping.

They always seem to have the cutest stuff.

I couldn’t resist this thermal mug.

Or these beautiful mugs which I will leave with my daughter.

I loved these mushroom salt & pepper shakers

and can’t wait to put them on my table.

These little owl magnets will be so cute in my craft room.

More salt & pepper shakers.

Turtles for my son-in-law

and Owls for my daughter.

A sunflower kit to take home for my son,

and these little gnomes for my mom.

She is not a fan of the faceless gnomes that are so popular right now

so when I saw these gnomes with faces I couldn’t resist.

Then it was off to the Bluebell Walk.

Being from the prairies we enjoyed the wetlands

almost as much as the Bluebells.

The Bluebells were in peak bloom

and so beautiful.

I thought this tree could be a gnome condo lol.

I love Cardinals and am always super thrilled to see one.

Then it was off for groceries and dinner.

I found some Mrs Dash seasonings

that I haven’t been able to find at home.

We tried this Blackberry Lemonade

which was the perfect blend of tart and sweet.

I had this Peppersteak burger.

The flavour was so amazing

I just had to take a moment to savour the flavours.

We then enjoyed the digital aquarium

before heading home for the day.

Day 2 of Travel - Turbulence

Day 2 of travel began very early - 3:00am to be exact.

We took the hotel shuttle to the airport at 4:00am.

The plan was to grab a light breakfast before boarding the plane.

But, after getting in the wrong line to check in,

Followed by hubby getting randomly selected for a more detailed security search,

A fairly long line up to get through customs

We made it to our gate in time to board.

Good thing I had 5 Timbits before we left the hotel.

Once we were boarded we had our first delay.

It turned out with the winter weather an alternate flight plan had to be submitted.

Finally, after deicing we were ready for take off.

After a very turbulent flight we were cleared to land.

However, the winter weather had them down to one runway 

So we had to wait our turn.

It turns out we had to make two landing attempts

As the plane landing before us took a slide.

After an extremely rough descent and bumpy landing

We were finally back on solid ground

With applause for the amazing crew who got us there safely.

After only having coffee and some cookies on the plane

We definitely needed some food.

This Farmer’s Bagel hit the spot.

We weren’t too surprised our connecting flight was delayed

So we just relaxed and watched some movies.

Three o’clock rolled around and we found out

The flight captain was flying in from New York. 

He finally arrived and boarding began.

We once again had to wait for deicing

As the winds were too high to begin the process.

Another 40 minute wait as the plane rocked back and forth in the wind.

Finally the winds slowed down enough and we were off to better weather.

Three hours later than expected we finally touched down.

Our daughter and son-in-law were waiting for us

And took us out to dinner.

After our long day some comfort food was on the menu.

Now, the fun can begin 😊

Holidays Begin! Day One of Travel

Our holidays are finally here and we are so excited!

Unfortunately the weather is unpredictable 

with a winter/spring snow storm moving in.

 

We finished our last minute packing

and headed out in good time.

We had a lot of things to do before we actually hit the road.

First up was a fresh set of nails.

Then we were off for our Covid tests.

While we were waiting for the results I received a message

From my daughter-in-law saying my son was very sick.

Since we were at our pharmacy I talked with our pharmacist

and got some medicine recommendations.

Hubby and I then grabbed a quick lunch

and then dropped him off for a massage.

While hubby was having his massage 

I zipped over to my sons to check on him

and drop off a few things.

Thankfully he was looking a little better.

I then stopped over at my parents for a quick

visit.

With coffee in hand we were finally able to hit the road.

While we had flurries off and on during the drive 

the highways were clear and dry which I was thankful for.

We finally arrived at our hotel

and ordered in our favourite travel day pizza.

And then it was time to call it a night as tomorrow starts very early.
