The Simple Woman's Daybook

For today...
Tuesday, August 17, 2021

Looking out my window...

I am thinking...
Of everything I need to get done before we leave.

I am thankful for...
Extra time in the mornings to get things done this week.

One of my favorite things...
Early morning quiet.

I am creating...
 More packing lists.

I am wearing...
Black capris and a pink tank top.

I am hearing...
The fan and birds.

I am reading...
Nino's Heart by J.D. Keene
and
Deeply Rooted by Stacey Beebe

Around the house...
Piles.

In my kitchen...

In my garden...

Pondering these words...
"Effort only fully releases its rewards
after a person refuses to quit."
~Napolean Hill~

A few plans for the upcoming week...
~Working~
~Packing~
~Visit with parents~
~Covid Tests~

The Simple Woman's Daybook

For today...
Tuesday, August 10, 2021

Looking out my window...
Hot and smoky.

I am thinking...
How it wasn't as busy as it could have been at work
after a long weekend.

I am thankful for...
Extra days of work.

One of my favorite things...
Relaxing spa music.

I am creating...
 Not too much.

I am wearing...
Black sweats and a blue camo t-shirt.

I am hearing...
The fan and soft music playing

I am reading...
Nino's Heart by J.D. Keene
and
Deeply Rooted by Stacey Beebe

Around the house...
Just basic housecleaning.

In my kitchen...
Leftovers tonight.

In my garden...
Things are hanging on despite the smoke & heat.

Pondering these words...
"The wise does at once what the fool does at last."
~Baltasar Gracian~

A few plans for the upcoming week...
~Working~
~Packing~
~Manicure~
~Haircut~

A moment from my day...
~The resident Richardson Ground Squirrel is getting pretty friendly.~

Simple Winter Kitchen Vignette

There's something about January that calls to my sense of simplicity.

Well, actually I have felt the desire to simplify before January.
I was just getting tired of the excess stuff that clogs up my life.

And I wasn't the only one in our family feeling that way.
Our adult children wanted more time as a family and less gifts.
and our décor was slimmed down from other years but was still plenty.
It allowed us to actually enjoy and appreciate what we had out -
the decorations that had memories and meaning.

2014 has had a slow start but the theme for us this year is simplicity.
Do you have a theme or focus for the upcoming year?
