Spring Fridge Vignette

Since my fridge is one of the first things you see
when you come in through the back porch
I like to keep it looking pretty and seasonal.

It also helps keep clutter
from getting thrown on top of the fridge.

Since lilacs are my theme for this season
I used some lilacs
and some delicate light purple flowers.

I can't remember where I got this little vase
but I have had it for many years
and the purple flowers on it go perfect with this decor.

I also love the intricate work on this
tealight candle holder.

Do you decorate the top of your fridge?

Spring in the Porch

Welcome friends to our back door.
We live in a small town where everyone comes to the back door.

I love our back door porch which has lots of space
for families and friends when they come in
to hang their jackets and take off their boots.

I have put out a few spring decorations
which makes it feel so bright and fresh.

I am loving the soft pastels
after the whites of winter.

This little box holds slippers for our guests,
just in case they get cold feet.

My mom loves to knit them and keeps me well stocked
so friends are always able to take home a pair.

This little bench is so handy to sit down on when putting on your shoes.
It is actually a toy box that my father made for my son
when he was small.

My son hasn't claimed it for his house yet
so I will enjoy while it is still here.

I always like putting potpourri in my glass vases.
I think it looks pretty and gives off a pretty, light scent
since I have to stay away from real flowers.

I hope you enjoyed my little
back porch tour.😊

Simple Centrepiece

I love scrolling through blogs
and seeing the beautiful and creative tablescapes.
However, as much as I enjoy creating a more
elaborate tablescape when family & friends are over,
I find that my simple, everyday table
brings me calm and joy when I come in from my busy day.

These little owls that I am using here are actually
the salt and pepper shakers that stay on the table
and work well together with the floral display
that makes up this winter centerpiece.

I thought I should share it with you before
I change it out to a spring theme.
I love these simple shades of white
with the pussywillows.
It always feels so fresh and clean.

I hope you enjoyed this simple centrepiece.
Do you like to keep it simple or is more elaborate your way to go?

The Odd Time Between Winter & Spring

I find the time between winter and spring
an odd time for outdoor décor.

Once it is warm enough to take down the Christmas decor
I am left with just empty space that I think needs filling.

But it's too early for flowers.

And anything I do put out
has to be able to handle the unpredictable weather -
snow, freezing rain, wind and sleet.

So, I put together this little back door vignette
to fill the empty space
and it should be able to handle the weather.

What do you do with this time
between winter & spring?

Spring Sidetable Vignette

With our backyard still buried in snow
and snow in the forecast
for almost every day
I needed to put some touches
of spring around the house.

We have a little table that sits between
our chairs and I decided to cover it
with a spring cloth.
I just love the flowers on it.

We use this table to charge our devices
and the cords can be messy looking.

But we pull them through the base of our vintage lamp
and can tuck them away
when we don't need them.

I added a vase
with some pussy willows
and greenery.

And a little white bird.

On the other side of the lamp
I added a porcelain lily
and filled it with some
colored glass painted eggs.

Every spring we have an owl
that comes to our neighborhood
so I included my white porcelain owl
in my spring décor.

Our little Storm Glass
is fun to watch
and surprising in how accurate it is.

All put together our little side table
is ready for spring
even if it doesn't seem like it outdoors quite yet.

Keeping It Simple. Keeping It Natural.

Life is busy!
School...Work...Ailing parents...Adult children moving home...
Planning a move....

It is a time in my life when I need to simplify
and one of the areas I decided to do that in
was in the decorating.

As much as I do enjoy seasonal decorating it does take time.
So for now I decided to go for an all season look.

It feels so simple and fresh.
Just what I was looking for.

After a long day the combination of fresh plants
and glowing candles helps me to relax.

So for now I'm keeping it simple, keeping it natural,
allowing me to focus my time where needed
during this season of life.
