Back Porch Christmas

We have a lovely little back porch
that was added some years ago onto our house.

A few years ago we took out the old closets
and freshened it up a bit.

It is our main entry point into the house
as family and friends all come to the back door.

There is lots of space for jackets and shoes.

It is also one of my favorite spaces to decorate now
as it is the first impression given
when people enter our home.

I love cardinals and my collection has slowly been growing over the years.

Anything red,
anything rustic,
and anything nature inspired
are hard for me to resist.

These two little pieces "Peace" and "Joy"
were added to my collection this year.

They were great Dollar Store finds.

My little snowman is still part of my back porch.
You can find out how I made him here.

I hope you enjoyed visiting my back porch decor.

Do you have a favorite Christmas decor theme?

Back Door Christmas Welcome

We live in a small town
where friends & family
always come through the back door.

Our back door says "Welcome home!"
after a long day away at work.

Or
"Welcome! We are so glad you came!"
to our friends.

I love coming around the corner
and seeing our cozy little nook
at the back door.

It has a way of warming the heart
before you're even in the door.

Do you decorate at your back door?

My Little Blue Tree

Our living room has four entrances
which can make it a bit of a challenge when it comes to decorating,
especially when trying to figure out where to put a Christmas tree.

I finally found the solution with a skinny tree.
It sits against the one wall
and adds a touch of Christmas
without overtaking the room.

I begin decorating by wrapping the tree with blue ribbon.
My white bird adorns the top of the tree.

I love decorating with a nature theme
so I add poinsettia, cones & berries.

For a final touch I add in a few bulbs.

It adds Christmas to the living room
without taking it over
and even the dog can go by
with his big curly tail with ease.

Do you have a challenging space to decorate for Christmas?

Simple Christmas Vignette

We have a tall wardrobe that sits by our front door.
It is great for putting in those jackets
when guests come over.

This year I thought I would dress it up a bit for Christmas.
I started off with just some simple greenery
and then added some candles.

But, I felt it needed a little something more.

So I then added a string of silver beads.

And for a finishing touch,
a few red christmas ornaments.

And my favorite part is that the candles
are flameless and are on a timer
so they automatically come on and shut off
after 5 hours in the evening,
giving a nice, soft glow
to our front door entrance.

Christmas Pianotop Vignette

This year has been a bit unusual for me
as I am just starting my decorating at the beginning of December
instead of at the beginning of November.

I always thought that when the kids weren't home anymore
I would have oodles of time to get so much done!
Hah!

Either I am way busier,
or way slower,
or most likely a combination of both.

Anyways, the house is slowly coming together
and I have recruited hubby
to haul totes up and down the stairs.

I always start my Christmas decorating in the living room.

First goes up the tree which you can see here.

Then comes the snowglobes (which you can see here)
that grace the top of the fireplace.

The comes the piano top.
I don't know why but it is always that order.

These angels were a new addition last year.
I had a hard time pulling it all together
and kept going back and adding a little tweak here and there.

I can't recall the last time
I actually put lights on the piano top.

But I am enjoying the soft glow
that it gives off in the evening.

It  may have taken some time
but I am happy with the final result.
