Tea for Three

I invited my mom over for tea.
She doesn't get out as much as she would like to
since my dad's heart surgery
so I thought she would enjoy an afternoon out.
We love going to a little teahouse in the city
but that wasn't an option right now
so I thought we'd have a tea at my house.

I received a dozen beautiful roses for Mother's Day
so I thought roses would be the theme.

This is one of my favorite tablecloths.
I just love the color of the roses
and the cutwork around the middle and edges.

This rose dish my mom gave to me awhile back.
It served the Rhubarb Crumble for our tea.

And this little dish I found at a Thrift store.
It served the Cream Puffs.

I set out the teacups and plates.

These belonged to my Grandmother.

I just love the roses inside the cups.

And then I added little flower candles
and used a napkin ring as a candle holder.

These little rose plates I found at a yard sale.
They are an exact match to the roses on the tablecloth.

I placed the rose teapot on a cake stand
and covered it with a pink crochet doilie.
I added two of my daughter's rose teacups for interest.
The jug in the background holds
Iced Canadian Berry Herbal tea.
I also served Saskatoon Berry Herbal tea.

It was such a relaxing, enjoyable afternoon
as my mom, myself and my daughter
enjoyed our tea.

Tea For One Vignette

A week ago this area of our home was non-existant
and the bookshelf was just an empty piece of furniture
getting moved back and forth to different spots
just to keep it out of the way.

The reason for that is
I am in the process of converting our old school room/office
into a sitting/guest room.

It has definately been a long process
and I can't wait to show you the final transformation.
That post should be coming soon!

In the meantime I thought I'd give you a quick sneak peak.
This tea time vignette features my grandmothers teacup,
a teapot my brother-in-laws gave us for our first anniversary,
a spring butterfly napkin and pink floral napking ring
and a little tealight in the small stemware.

The lamp I found at an estate sale
and I so enjoy the fact you can have just the top on
or just the bottom or both.

Hope you enjoyed my Tea for One Vignette!

Orange Glory Rolls

This recipe calls for orange marmalade.
I had some homemade marmalade in the pantry
that I wanted to use up so I thought I would
give this recipe a try.

Topping
3/4 cup orange marmalade
1 Tbsp. margarine or butter

Rolls
4 1/4 to 5 1/4 cups all purpose flour
1/2 cup sugar
1 tsp. salt
2 pkg. active dry yeast
1 cup milk
1/2 cup water
1/4 cup margarine or butter
2 eggs
2 Tbsp. margarine or butter, softened

Generously grease 24 muffin cups.
In small saucepan, combine topping ingredients.
Cook over low heat until melted, stirring frequently.
Place heaping teaspoonful of topping in each greased muffin cup;
set aside.

In large bowl, combine 1 1/2 cups flour, sugar, salt and yeast;
blend well.
In small saucepan, heat milk, water and 1/4 cup margarine
until very warm.
Add warm liquid and eggs to flour mixture.
Blend at low speed until moistened;
beat 2 minutes at medium speed.
By hand, stir in remaining 2 3/4 to 3 3/4 cups flour
to form a stiff dough.

On a floured surface, toss dough until no longer sticky.
Divide dough in half.
Roll half into 12x10-inch rectangle;
spread with 1 Tbsp. of the softened margarine.
Starting with the 12-inch side, roll up tightly,
pressing edges to seal.
Cut into 12 slices;
place cut side down over marmalade mixture in muffin cups.
Repeat with second half of dough.
Cover loosely with plastic wrap and cloth towel.
Let rise in warm place until light and doubled in size,
about 35 to 45 minutes.

Heat oven to 375F. Uncover dough.
Bake 15 to 20 minutes or until light golden brown.
Immediately invert onto foil or waxed paper.

While they were baking I brewed some of my favorite tea,
Orange Love Rooibos
that I bought at my favorite little tea shop,
The Jasmine Tea Room

Set out some of my pretty vintage napkins

And some of my favorite tea mugs.

And enjoyed an afternoon cup of tea.
