Another Deck

You probably remember this little corner I showed you
where I like to sit and have a morning coffee.
Well, I thought I would show you the rest of the deck.

We have french doors off our dining room area
which lead onto this deck.
In this corner I have a temporary greenhouse.
It has been so cool and rainy here that I have
been housing some plants here until it warms up
enough to put them out into the garden.

On a warm summer day this deck
provides a nice cool shady spot to enjoy our evening meal.

This bright little table cloth I found at a thrift store.
All I had to do was cut a little hole in the middle.

These little tealight holders my hubby picked up for me.
They have little hearts on the top :)
and they are made of cast iron and are quite heavy.
They are great for holding down the tablecloth
when the breeze picks up.

This is my favorite newest addition.
I found it at a local garden center on clearance.

I hope as the summer progresses that the flowers will fill up
and overflow this watering can.

And last but not least, my friendly little owl,
who peeks out at you as you come to our back door :)

Front Porch for Summer

Welcome to our front porch!
Once the Christmas decorations came down
it just sat so bare and empty
waiting for it's summer dress up.

As you come up the front steps
you are greeted by the cheerful little lobelias.
They always do so well on the front steps.

The geraniums on either side of the door are so bright and cheerful.

This is our favorite place to have breakfast
on a hot summer morning.

I found this lovely little lantern at Pier 1 Imports
for a great price!

And my daughter gave me these cute little tealights
for Mother's Day.

All the linens and cushions I found at JYSK.

This is my favorite place to stop for a few minutes
put my feet up and enjoy a good book and a cool drink!

These cute little candle holders
I found at Dollarama.

Thanks for visiting my front porch!

Herb Garden

I had a herb garden for several years
in an area near the back of our yard.

And every year it just seemed to struggle along.

Because of all that was going on last year
some herbs got left in pots on our back door lower deck
instead of getting planted in the herb garden area.

And they thrived.
That's when I decided my herb garden
was going to stay in pots
on the back door lower deck.

So this is the new space
that has become my herb garden.
The little watering can holds some lavender.

Parsley and marjoram.

Oregano and tarragon.

Chamomile and thyme.

Sage and rosemary.

Fennel and anise.
Both of these are new herbs to me this year.

And a selection of hot peppers for the guys.
I know they aren't herbs but they should do well here.
I so enjoy being able to step out my back door
and seeing my herbs growing there.

Earring & Ring Holder

When I saw this idea for a ring display holder
and then this idea for an earring display holder
(click links for tutorials)
I knew I had stumbled across the perfect gift
for my daughter's birthday.

I first went hunting for the frame
and thought these would go well in her room.
I then enlisted the help of my mom for the fabric.
In her scrap bin she had exactly what I needed -
the soft cloth for the roll
and then this lovely white cloth to cover with.
To make it more special this white cloth
was a piece from the cloth she used to make her wedding dress!

She also provided some white liner for the back of this frame
and she also had some leftover mesh that worked perfectly.
I had so much fun making these and was pleasantly surprised
at how quick and easy they were to do.
A special gift for my daughter
from her mom & grandma :)
