Handwashing vs. Dishwasher

Our dishwasher has been a mainstay of our home from the very beginning.
However, a few months back we noticed it was beginning to show it's age
and this past week the pump washed it's last wash.
The debate is on as to replace the pump or upgrade to a new dishwasher.

But I told hubby there was no rush. I could hand wash our dishes.
After all, it's only the two of us at home now and we both work all day,
I don't bake and cook to the extent I used to
when the kids were home
and I was a stay-at-home mom.
So, in reality washing the dishes doesn't take long at all.

The benefit is there are always dishes in the cupboard
and we don't run out of cutlery.
It took us so long to get the dishwasher full enough to run
that running out of cutlery was a problem

Some other benefits of handwashing is that hubby helps
dry the dishes in the evening and it has been
so relaxing to wash the dishes, chat with hubby
and enjoy the beautiful view of the backyard out the window.

What about you?
Do you prefer handwashing or the dishwasher?

Marinated Pepper Salad

I am always on the lookout for new vegetable salads
to make during the hot summer weather.

I came across this recipe and decided to give it a try
and I loved it!
It also held up well in the fridge so we were
able to eat it throughout the week.

Ingredients
3 large bell peppers
1/2 medium onion
2 tsp dried dill
1 Tbsp lemon juice
1 1/2 Tbsp vinegar
3 Tbsp oil
1/2 tsp garlic salt
Black Pepper

~*~

Remove the tops and seeds from bell peppers and cut into thin strips.
Thinly slice onion and add to peppers along with the dill. Mix well.

Combine the remaining ingredients in a bowl and whisk well.
Pour of peppers & onions and mix well.
Enjoy!

Around Our Sunday Table - Keeping It Simple

Thou hast given so much to me,
Give one thing more, - a grateful heart;
Not thankful when it pleaseth me,
As if Thy blessings had spare days,
But such a heart whose pulse may be Thy praise.
~George Herbert~

As we gather around our Sunday table
it is time for us to stop and reflect
on the many things we have to be thankful for.

With the heat we have had the past few weeks
I am thankful for the air conditioning we have
and also the opportunity to enjoy a simple meal outside.

It has been wonderful to visit with family members again
in a "normal" environment.
We can see their faces!

What are you thankful for today?
