Jasper Tramway

If you ever have a chance to visit Jasper National Park
I would highly recommend that you stop
and go up the Jasper Tramway

It gives you a spectacular view of the mountains
and of Jasper National Park.

There are many options once you reach the top,
from dining in the restaurant,
to strolling around and taking in the panoramic scenery,
or hiking on up to the summit.

If you are lucky the clouds will lift on Mt Robson,
the highest mountain in the Rockies.

From the top of the tramway you can see the Town of Jasper
as well as numerous lakes and rivers,
all of which are in so many shades of vivid blue.

Pyramid mountain overlooks Jasper.

From the summit you can get a 360 degree view of the mountaintops.

It's a pretty amazing feeling to be standing and looking level with the mountain peaks!

There are man made benches but I opted for a more natural spot
that offered protection from the cool breeze.

This friendly little squirrel popped out to say "hi"
although I suspect he may have been looking for food!

I-Pad Card

When I saw this card idea on Pinterest
I knew it would be the perfect card to make
for my son for his birthday.
To see the original version and full instructions
check out tipjunkie.com

First I cut out the frame of the card.

Then I found a background that suited my sons interests.

I googled Ipad images and printed and cut them out.

Then I carefully glued them on the card,
trying to get the buttons in as accurate order as I could.

Then I took my silver pen
and went carefully around the edge
and used it to create the button.

I lined the inside of the card with simple white paper
and put a Happy Birthday verse.

I was pleased with the finished result
and the smile it put on my son's face
made it all that much better!

Stir-Fry Chicken and Peppers

I think I would say this is one of my most favorite
Chicken Stir-Fry recipes.
I love the big chunky onions, peppers and tomatoes
and served over a thin pasta it is delicious!

Ingredients
1/4 dry sherry or apple juice
1/4 cup water
3 Tbsp soy sauce
2 tsp cornstarch
1/2 tsp Chinese 5-Spice
1 Tbsp oil
1 lb. chicken breast strips for stir-frying
1 medium onion, cut into 8 wedges
1 medium green bell pepper, cut into bite-sized pieces
1 medium yellow bell pepper, cut into bite-sized pieces
2 medium tomatoes, each cut into 8 wedges

In small bowl combine sherry, water, soy sauce, cornstarch and
Chinese 5-Spice; blend well.  Set aside.

Heat oil in large skillet or wok over medium-high heat until hot.
Add chicken strips; cook and stir 3-minutes.
Add onion and bell peppers; cook and stir 4-6 minutes
or until chicken is no longer pink and vegetables are crisp-tender.

Stir cornstarch mixture until smooth.
Add to skillet; cook and stir 2-3 minutes or until
sauce is bubbly and thickened.
Add tomatoes; cook and stir until thoroughly heated.
Serve over thin noodles.

Colors of Fall

I just love the warm, vibrant colors of fall.

My parents grew some broom corn this year
and gave me some to decorate with.

Little touches here and there around the house give it such a feeling of warmth.

Every year I want to go out and collect cattails from the ditches
but I am always a little to late in the season.

So, once again, these artificial ones stand in.

It always surprises me how many decorations I have for fall.

It is definitely a warm-up for Christmas decorating!

Icefields Parkway

As we travelled from Banff National Park
to Jasper National Park
we took the Icefields Parkway.

The scenery is one again spectacular.

The glaciers are beautiful
and there are many to see.

If you have heard of the Columbia Icefields
then this is the road you take to see them.

The Athabasca Glacier is often referred
to as the Columbia Icefields.

But it is only one of the many glaciers in this area.

It's a fair drive though high passes.

But definitely worth the trip!
