Show and Tell Friday

I saw this idea in a catalogue but didn't want to pay the price they were asking for the supplies so I went to the Dollar Store and bought the pots and everything else I already had on hand.

This was the most challenging part, gluing the arms onto the top part.  I made sure it set for 24 hours before tackling the second side.

Once the arms and legs were on and set the hard part was done.

I glued some moss around the arms and legs and put some inside as well.

Then it was time to add the face.

And finally put it together.  The top is glued to the base and a bow was added around the neck. Then it was off to the garden to find some flowers to put into it.

And then, to find the perfect spot to display it.  It is in our back porch area to greet everyone who comes in.

The original cost in the catalogue was over $20 plus shipping and handling for just the supplies, I would have still had to put it together.  My cost, under $5.00.

I hope you enjoyed my fall project.  I am joining in with Cindy at My Romatic Home for Show and Tell Friday.

  1. Awww... That's cute! Don't you just love it when you can re-create something for a tiny fraction of the cost? That's the best!

  2. Laura,

I agree, sometimes it is surprising what you can do with a little.

  5. Blondee - I was impatient to get started so I grabbed some Carpenter's Glue I had in the closet. I wasn't sure if it would work on the clay pots but it bonded beautifully.

Teri - Thanks! I fell in love with it when I first saw it in the catalogue.

  8. Esther & Trish, thank you. Those sunflowers were supposed to be a small 3ft variety but we're guessing they've reached a good 8ft now but they sure are cheery to look at since we've had a week of rainy days.

  10. Good Morning Alana,
I've been away for a few days from blogging...sorry that I missed this adorable craft! And so easy...and inexpensive! It would be a great project for children...possibly with the smaller sized pots to scale it down to their size...thanks for sharing!
    Blessings,
    Laura

  11. Hi Laura,
It is easy and would be fun to do with children because it would last all week, each step taking about a day to let the glue dry fully. I'm thinking of doing minatures to put by each placemat on the table. Glad you enjoyed it!
