Heart Surgery & Prayers

I will be away for awhile.  My dad is having double by-pass surgery tomorrow and I will be heading up to be with my mom.  Not sure when I will be back.  Please keep him in your prayers as there were complications with his angiogram today and although he is currently stable he is not well.

Archie Birthday Card

This is the cute little card I made for my hubby for his birthday
which was so quick and easy to do.

I printed the Archie band picture and then decided to use the music note sheet as the background.

I used the red cardstock because red is one of our favorite colors.

I trimmed the top edge and added some gold accent.

Inside I put a personalized verse based on the song "Wild Thing".
He got a chuckle out of it,
and it went well with his theme party :)

I will be joining Cindy at "My Romatic Home" for Show and Tell Friday

Hearts for Home

Today I am joining in with Gae from Cherished Hearts at Home . She has a weekly post called Hearts for Home which is open for others to link up with and share some thoughts on home-centred ways. She encourages us to think of 4-6 things to commit to each week to make homelife special and to bless us as keepers at home.

I was able to complete everything on my list of my last post :)  It always surprises me what I can get done when I write it down and then plug away at it.
This week I need to:-

1.  Start some seeds indoors.

2.  Clean out the fridge.

3.  Finish putting away some boxes into our storage area.

4.  Take care of myself so I can get over this cold I caught.

That's all I am going to work on this week.  I want to keep things low key until I am feeling better.

Archie Birthday Theme

It was hubby's birthday and I wanted to do something different than we normally do this year so I came up with a theme party for him.  He LOVES Archie commic books so I decided to go with an Archie theme.
I started off with a red and white check tablecloth I picked up at Dollarama.

And hung a small disco ball from the light.
I wanted to give a diner type feel.

I printed off some Archie comics onto 8 1/2 x 11 sheets and had them laminated for placemats.

I was hoping to find round plastic baskets but had to settle for rectangle ones.

With the addition of tin foil and wax paper they were the perfect container for the burgers and fries with a bit of a retro look.

I was able to find some Archie glasses - thanks to e-bay.

And some bobbleheads for the center of the table.

Again thanks to e-bay.

And a cute little pull back car driven by Betty.

I added some stacks of comic books and a "reserved" sign to the center of the table.

The napkins were folded to hold the cutlery and straw.

And were pinned together with Archie themed pins.

Of course, it wouldn't be complete without the classic Coke bottles.

I added a sign near the dining room entrance.

Once the party got started I forgot to get pictures of the Burger Bar and yummy milkshakes topped with real whipped cream.

However, I did remember to get a picture of the fabulous cake made by some friends of my daughter.

They did an amazing job and it tasted delicious :)

We all had a wonderful time celebrating hubby's birthday and he thoroughly enjoyed his theme party.

Now, time to start planning my daughter's 18th!

I am joining Marty at "A Stroll Through Life" for Tabletop Tuesday
