Creating Beauty

~Figure out how you
 - the resident artist in your home -
can create beauty there.~
(Elizabeth George)

Creating beauty out of the dailies of life.  Sometimes its just those simple, little extra things, like putting the food in a pretty bowl instead of just putting the pot on the table.

A nice tablecloth, or if that's not practical, a small simple centerpiece.

Even the smell of baking/cooking, cleaning or fresh laundry all helps create beauty in the home.

I also think beauty in the home is about family and that beauty changes within the home during each season of life.  When the kids were small there was beauty in the flowers they picked for my table and there was beauty in their fingerpaintings that decorated my fridge and sometimes, walls.

As they got older there was beauty in the noise, laughter and clutter of friends, video games and sleepovers.  There was beauty in the kitchen as they learned to cook, and there was beauty in the house as they learned to clean, even if it wasn't always up to what I would have liked.

Now that they're older there is beauty as we sit down in the evenings with cups of hot chocolate or tea, a book or a project and share the end our day together, talking and laughing.

Take time to grab those beautiful moments of family that have been created as you set your heart and mind on honoring God by serving in your home.
