The Simple Woman's Daybook

For today... Saturday, November 16, 2013

Outside my window...

I am thinking... That I hope my daughter gets the internship position even if it means she won't be home for the summer and that it would make a long summer for me and it would probably be wise to plant a large garden to keep me busy.

I am thankful for... Home, family & friends.

From the kitchen...
~Sunday: Ham, Scalloped Potatoes, Buns, Broccoli, Corn, Salad, Triple Chocolate Cake
~Monday: Easy Breaded Fish Fillets, Rice Pilaf, Carrots, Tossed Salad, Banana Cream Pie
~Tuesday: Salisbury Steak, Perogies, Roasted Parmesan Cauliflower, Salad, Black & White Donuts
~Wednesday: Garden Chicken Saute, Oven Baked Zucchini, Salad, Triple Chocolate Cake
~Thursday: Slow Cooked Pork Chops, Rice, Turnip, Tossed Salad, Banana Cream Pie
~Friday:  Maple Balsamic Salmon, Rose Pasta, Pecan Squash, Peas, Salad, Black & White Donuts

~Garden Chicken Saute~

I am wearing... Pink & Grey top with a grey flecked cardigan and jeans

I am creating... This week my goals are:-
~Do my Christmas Cards
~Finish the letter "H" on my X-Stitch Sampler
~Finish 8 more pages of scrapbooking
~Work on a beaded fridge magnet

I am reading... Discovering the Treasures of a Godly Woman by Elizabeth George

I am praying for... My daughter's upcoming interview regarding her internship, hubby's test results, the family of hubby's cousin who haven't heard from their son who was in the area of the Philippines hit by the typhoon.

Pondering these words...
God is more interested in the workman than in the work.
Warren Wiersbe

I am still hoping... To finish some projects before Christmas.

I am hearing... The wind whistling around the house.

Around the house... Christmas baking has begun.

One of my favorite things... Fresh sheets.

A few plans for the rest of the week...
~Monday:  Start Christmas Decorating
~Tuesday: Continue Christmas Decorating
~Wednesday: Housecleaning Day
~Thursday: Volunteer at MCC, Errands & Grocery Shopping
~Friday: Monthly Goals & Plan Review
~Saturday: Finish Christmas Decorating & do some Christmas baking

Here is a picture thought I am sharing...

  1. Love your new header! Is that a picture of your home? Love all of the stars in the windows!

Next...these delicious sounding recipes...curious minds want to know: do you make your own Peroggies?; what are black and white donuts?; how do you prepare your turnips?; what is rose pasta?; the garden chicken saute looks amazing!; and will you pick me up at the airport? ;)

Love your goals for this week...I like that you set yourself a goal for a specific number of pages to scrapbook. That is the area I will be concentrating effort on this week. I have two small type ones to do for our granddaughters. I have the pictures developed from their three visits this year and want to make them each a scrapbook, featuring the parts special to them. :)

The x-stitch you are working on is beautiful, Alana! You do wonderful work!

I'll be praying with you about your daughter's interview for the internship and also for your husband's family who hasn't heard from their loved one in the Phillipines.

Have a wonderful remainder of the weekend!

    1. Thanks Dianne! Yes, it is a picture of our home from last Christmas. Hubby does love his lights :)

No, I don't make my own perogies. Black and white donuts are half white, half chocolate donuts :) As for the turnips, my favorite way to do them is dice them up, boil them, and then mash them with a bit of butter and pepper. Rosé pasta is pasta with a rosé sauce. Not all stores carry it but if they do it is usually by the alfredo and spaghetti sauce. It is super delicious! And yes, I will definitely pick you up from the airport ;) lol.

The number of pages to scrapbook for the week is to make sure I get done in time. I want to be all done before my daughter gets home on the 12th so breaking it down was the smartest thing I've done in awhile - lol. I have a sheet with each week listed and the pages I need to do that week underneath. That way, as I complete one page I cross it off the list and can see my progress being made!

Thank you. I have wanted to do this x-stitch piece for a long time and when we redid our living room I knew it was time. There is a spot on the wall just waiting for me to finish it :)

Thank you for your prayers :) and have a wonderful weekend too! Thanks for stopping by and visiting. I always enjoy your visits :)

  2. Your sampler is lovely. I hope your daughter's interview goes well. I understand being a bit torn about it. My son might have an opportunity to study in Japan for a month next summer. One part of me thinks it will be a wonderful experience for him while the other part is just going to miss him. Have a wonderful week :)
