The Simple Woman's Daybook

For today... Sunday, August 12, 2012

Outside my window... Light blue sky with some clouds and a slight breeze.

I am thinking... Of how busy the next two weeks will be as my daughter gets ready to leave for college.

I am thankful for... Being able to get some time away.

From the kitchen...
~Today: Roast Chicken, Mashed Potatoes, Gravy, Buns, Salad, Garden Veggies, Cream Puffs
~Monday:  Schechwan Stir-Fry, Noodles, Asian Cucumber-Zucchini Salad, Mint Parfaits
~Tuesday: Simple Chicken Bake, Garden Veggies, Chocolate Chip Cake
~Wednesday:  Lasagna, Ceasar Salad, Garlic Bread, Cream Puffs
~Thursday: Beef on a Bun, Garden Veggies, Chocolate Pudding
~Friday: Tarragon Fish & Veggies, Salad, Chocolate Chip Cake
~Saturday: Leftover Smorg

I am wearing... Denim skirt and a peach tank top.

I am creating... or trying to create some order out of all the chaos of sorting through totes and organizing and helping my daughter pack.

I am reading... A Woman After God's Own Heart by Elizabeth George

I am praying for... My daughter as she heads off for her second year at college at a new school further from home.

Pondering these words...To cultivate the sense of the beautiful, is one of the most effectual ways of cultivating an appreciation of the Divine goodness ~Christian Nestell Bovee~

I am still hoping... For a little rain.

I am hearing...  Hubby making us some brunch in the kitchen, the birds singing, the leaves rustling in the trees.

Around the house... Lots of canning and preserving.

One of my favorite things... Seeing the pantry filling up with food we have grown.

A few plans for the rest of the week...  Shopping, packing, picking from the garden and preserving.

Here is a picture thought I am sharing...

  3. Hi and thanks for stopping my little place. What a lovely calm inducing post. I love that photo, it reminds me of a place near to where I live. I hope that you manage all that tote packing and that your daughter finds happiness in her new school.
