Gardening Season Begins

Although it is still quite cool
it is time to tackle the weeds.
We put in these strawberry plants late last summer
and the weeds are threatening to overtake them.

So the weeds were dug out
and fertilizer was added and dug in.
It is looking much better.

This spot along the garden fence is quite bare
and since we are planning on doing some
major landscaping changes in other parts of the yard
this summer...

I decided to transplant the delphiniums here.
I hope they will take well.
In between I am planning on putting
in some daisies.

I also prepped the spot on either side of the garden gate
for the Sweet Peas to be planted.
If it doesn't rain too much tonight
I should get them in tomorrow.

So gardening season has begun
and my garden area is slowly
being transformed.

I am joining...
Gina at The Shabby Creek Cottage for Transformation Thursday
Cindy at My Romantic Home for Show and Tell Friday
While He Was Napping for Weekend Wander
Fishtail Cottage for Cottage Garden Party

  1. I am getting excited about gardening too. I can't wait to get my hands dirty. My favorite thing about gardening is watching everything grow and of course, the harvest. I loved your post...and I will be weeding today. :-)

  2. Wanted to come by and say thanks for leaving me a comment and following me at Quirky Vistas. I love what you're doing with the garden. I need the motivation to tackle one but I've never done it before. I have a pretty big yard and would really like to get started. I'll have to watch and see what I can learn from you. Hope you'll come by and visit again sometime!

  3. Delphiniums,
Spelled that wrong, any way, they are so pretty. I use to have a bunch of them but they slowly disappeared. Rabbits and the weather maybe. Hope your strawberries and flowers do well this year.

  6. Heather - Weeding seems to be the main occupation of gardening - lol.

Imagermix - Thanks for stopping by. Gardening is a lot of work but so worth it :)

Pat - I love delphiniums too. I had lovely ones in our previous home so I hope the move of these ones will help them do better here.

Blondee - So sorry about your strawberries - hope you can get some new ones in.

Paula - It is a big garden - in total 64' x 42'. Keeps me busy in the summer.

  9. Love delphiniums! Have you ever seen a white one? I saw one the other day; would have bought it if we were in our summer place. Can't wait to see your pictures of the garden in full bloom!

  10. Thank you Lynne :)

Thanks Nancy, and yes, I actually had some white delphiniums at our previous home. Hope to get some in the future for here as well.
