Storms of Life

In my last blog I asked for prayer as I my dad had complications with his angiogram.  Well, it was a little more than a complication.  His heart actually stopped.  Thankfully, they were able to get it going again and after getting him stablized he had by-pass surgery.  Although it has been slow he has been improving and it's amazing to see him doing so much better.  What an answer to prayer.

As well, within this time frame my daughter celebrated her 18th birthday, got accepted into the college of her choice (an 8 1/2 hour drive from home), graduated from high school and went on a mission trip to Berlin.  We are now in the depths of collecting and packing things as we prepare for her to leave for college.  I don't think I've fully come to grips with the fact that she will be leaving in only a few short weeks.  After homeschooling for the past 14 years I have to admit I think I will be at a bit of loss for awhile.

  1. Hi Alana,
It is so good to see a blog post from you! I am thankful to read that your father is doing well, and recovering from his surgery. I pray his recovery continues to go well.

Congratulations to your daughter on her high school graduation, and also college! It is difficult to see our chidren leave home. I wish the best for her as she goes away to school!

I love the quote that you used about serenity. It is so true. Glad to see you back...take care... ☺

  2. Oh Alana, so much going on for you...your daughter leaving for school and your father recovering from surgery...I empathize with you so much. I went through a similar situation when my older daughter (Katie) went off to school and New York right after HS. (We live in southern California). At the same time Mike and I both had parents who were ailing. Such a transition time. Rosie (our youngest) was/is still home though which helped, although the worrying didn't stop. I must admit that I would never have gotten through it without an abundance of faith and prayer. Once I handed it over to God, and didn't take it back via worry, my coping skills increased tremendously. I will keep you all in my best thoughts and prayers for perfect healing, safety, happiness and serenity. :)
    Love,
    Tracey
