Hollyhocks

Ever since my daughter was young she loved hollyhocks.

Every year she would faithfully collect hollyhock seeds
and diligently plant them around our yard,

only to have them mowed,
weed whipped
or sprayed
down.

However, after years of perseverance
her hardwork and diligence paid off

and we are now enjoying this beautiful
garden of hollyhocks.

  1. Well done to your daughter, Alana! I love Holly Hocks but have not had a lot of luck with growing them. This has inspired me to try yet once again!

    1. She planted them in quite rocky soil and they just took off. They sure are beautiful :)

  2. I haven't had hollyhocks in years but always enjoyed seeing them. They are tough plants and grow in some pretty bad locations. I think they like being neglected!

    1. That's for sure! It's probably the worst soil in our yard and quite rocky as it was once an old dog run area that was gravelled.

  3. Hi

Just found you blog and I'll be back!

I'm in North Florida, do you know if Hollyhocks do well in the heat?
