Most evenings our family gathers
for an evening cup of tea in the living room
to visit and share about our day.
It is my favorite part of the day
and has been extra special
now that everyone is at home for the summer.
Our living room is small cozy
and the piano is the focal point.
If you look closely you can see
how it was decorated for early spring.
When I cam across this mirror on clearance
I knew it was time for a change.
I hung the mirror.
And then I pulled out some storage boxes
to see what I could find
to pull it all together.
I found these small decorative urns
and love the floral detail on them.
And one of my favorite candle holders
and a decorative book.
This stone tealight holder
complements the scroll work on the mirror.
And looks so pretty when lit.
Once I finished putting it all together
I lit all the candles.
And as the candles gave a soft glow to the room
and the sunset glowed through the windows
while the evening tea brewed
the family was once again drawn together
to share their day.

ReplyDeleteI love the urns! And that's great you get to have that time with your family everyday! -Jessica
ReplyDeleteI love that you have a piano in such a central spot. We used to have one when my daughter was little and taking piano lessons but then she lost interest and we sold it. But I used to love sitting nearby and hearing her play.
ReplyDeleteYour decorations are beautiful and I love the idea of gathering together in the evenings like this. Well I have some good news and some not so good news...good news...I made the solar light jars for my mom, just in time, for moms day tomorrow...the not so good news...I have to hand these pretty solar lights off tomorrow!...lol I have got to go and make some for my outside table now! =O) They really turned out pretty and I even made them in a way so that I didn't need glue. I was a little worried about the glue lasting through all our different temperatures here. Ty Ty Ty for sharing that wonderful idea!!!!! Have a wonderful mothers day!
ReplyDeleteand the candles are such a beautiful touch...
ReplyDeleteA Little of Me - Your welcome :)
ReplyDeleteJessica - I had forgotten about the urns so when I saw them when I was going through my stuff it was definately a pleasant surprise!
Manuela - My parents bought me my piano when I started taking lessons and when I got married it moved with me :) Playing it is a great way for me to relax in the evening.
Christine - Thank you. I know what you mean about giving them away. I still need to make some more for my own deck.
Annmarie - Thank you. I love the soft glow of candlelight :)
Your piano top vignette is gorgeous! I love the country blues.

I love the iron-framed mirror and all the pretty things you've used to decorate your mantle.
LOVE the candles!
Lighting candles at night is such a wonderful way to set a calm mood in the home.
It's touches like that which make our homes so special for our loved ones.
