Looking out my window...

I am thinking...

One day nice and the next day snow.

I am thankful for...
The moisture.

One of my favorite things...
A cozy blanket and a good movie.

I am creating...

Around the house...

~Touches of spring~

In my kitchen...

A Beautiful Saturday

It was a beautiful day with the high reaching 21C.

After spending the morning inside
Giving the house a good cleaning
From top to bottom,
I headed outside for the afternoon.

I did some clean up around the yard.
It is so nice to see things starting to grow.

Hubby spent the day replacing the brakes on my car.
I am glad to have that done.
It was such a beautiful day
It’s hard to believe snow is in the forecast tomorrow
But we do need the moisture.
It is extremely dry and fire bans are in place already.
Moisture, even in the form of snow will be appreciated.

Kitchen Garden

I’ve always had this odd little area
That I never really knew what to do with.
Awhile ago I was reading about
Square foot gardening and kitchen gardens
And thought that might be a perfect use for the space.

Today I got the soil prepped
And the area staked.

Last year I had moved some chives into this area
But after staking out 1-foot sections
I realized I needed to move them over.

The soil was nice and soft so they were easy to move.
Now I just have to make my planting plan,
 Buy some seeds,
And start planting.

Do you have a kitchen garden?

Playing with Essential Oils

 My daughter loved essential oils
And always had some blend running in her diffuser.
When she moved away I missed
Coming home to the scents of the essential oils
So I bought a small diffuser and started dabbling.

At first I just used one oil at a time.
Then, I started using different blends
That I found on Pinterest,
But often I found they started strong
And then disappeared to nothing.

Now I am moving on and experimenting
With blends of my own.
I love this handy reference sheet of
Top notes, middle notes and base notes.

For my little diffuser
3 drops of a top note oil,
2 drops of a middle note,
And 5 drops of a base note
Give me beautiful scents that last all day.

Do you use essential oils?
What is your favourite blend?

The Simple Woman’s Daybook

For today...
Sunday, April 18, 2021

Looking out my window...

I am thinking...
Of my Uncle who lost his wife last week.

I am thankful for...
My husband.

One of my favorite things...
Being outside.

I am creating...

I am wearing...
Grey joggers and a two toned gray and maroon sweater.

I am hearing...
Instrumental Hymns and the dishwasher.

I am reading...
The Lords of the North by Bernard Cornell
and
Sacred Rest by Saundra Dalton-Smith

I am learning...
To plan my gardens.

Around the house...
Cleaned the house top to bottom.

In my kitchen...
Pistachio tarts

In my garden...
An old wasps nest we are leaving in hopes
It will deter them from returning.

Pondering these words...
“Life doesn’t require that we be the best,
Only that we try our best.”
~H. Jackson Brown Jr.~
